A few years ago i did a project on man's interaction with caves and what it would do to the ecosystem of the cave. Well i found out very quickly that the moment a cave is open for any man to go into it pretty much goes right down the drain. The picture i posted was the worst of all. Cave water that builds up does not move much if ever but the pool above shows is that people are throwing coins in making small ripples which washes away a small bit of the wall around the edge of the pool making it bigger. I had another picture showing how much money they had pulled out of this pool every so many years. They have pulled out almost a million dollars in just coins

This is a crime. I have been in caves. The spelunkers code show apply to all cave. Public and private. Leave only footprints. I know f people breaking off stalagmites. It takes thousands of years to grow inch and man destroys in seconds. WHY? So they can have something that will sit in a drawer. It makes me sad. I find is amazing that the National parks and Services dont put a end to it. I know where this cave is. I dont live real far from it. Just makes me sad. Great photo though. I hope it brings light to people eyes.

i don't think you want to get in that water since it is very cold and fi you drink it you would be on the toliet all day long.

they drain the water some then they would use a vaccum to suck them up but it my opinion those kind of actions will ruin the natural bueaty of the cave.

I'd say, draining water is never a great thing to do. Especially in a natural habitat. I'd imagine that they clean off the money? Haven't they put signs up to NOT throw money in there?
